Custom MCP servers so an agent can operate your systems safely
The Model Context Protocol is how Claude and ChatGPT reach software without being handed the keys. We build the server that sits between the two, with permissions on every call, approval gates on anything irreversible, and a log a person can read afterwards.
- 300+ migrations, zero data loss
- Core Web Vitals in the green
- 24/7 emergency cover
-
Decide what should be reachable at all
Most of what a system can do has no business being exposed. We start from the jobs worth automating and work backwards, rather than publishing your API surface and hoping.
-
Describe each capability properly
Every action becomes a named ability with a schema for its inputs and a permission callback of its own. The schema is a contract the model cannot argue with, so it cannot invent a parameter or pass a value you never allowed.
-
Two independent gates on every call
One at the transport, deciding who is calling at all. One per ability, running under your existing permission system on every single request. Neither of them is a prompt asking the model to behave.
-
Stop before anything irreversible
Publishing, emailing, charging, deleting. Those get drafted and queued for a person, because the cost of being wrong is not symmetrical.
-
Leave a trail that survives the conversation
Which tool ran, with which arguments, under whose credentials, and what changed. When something odd surfaces a month later, that is the only question worth asking, and it cannot be answered retrospectively.
What we build
MCP servers for WordPress and WooCommerce
Built on the Abilities API that has been in WordPress core since 6.9, so the work survives the official adapter reaching the plugin directory rather than being replaced by it.
MCP servers for your own applications
Your internal API, your database, your ERP, your ticketing system. Anything with an interface can be given one an agent understands.
Read-only agents first
An agent that surfaces the five things nobody has time to check every morning is worth more than a write-enabled one you are frightened to leave alone, and it is how a team earns the confidence to grant more.
Agent-safe deployment paths
Checksums before a write lands, syntax checks before anything replaces a live file, backups taken in the same operation rather than as a step that can be skipped, and validation of what actually came out.
Connections to the rest of the stack
The deterministic parts belong in a workflow engine such as n8n, where triggers, retries and scheduling are solved problems. The agent gets the step that genuinely needs judgement, and only that step.
Monitoring once it is running
Tool call volume, failure rates, refusals and cost. An agent that quietly started failing three weeks ago is the normal failure mode, not a dramatic one.
We run one against our own production site
This is not a service we read about. Our site is operated through an MCP bridge, and every guardrail above exists because something went wrong here first.
Verify before overwriting
Content that crosses several layers can arrive subtly altered. A silent partial write to a stylesheet is a blank site, so every write is checksummed and refused on mismatch.
Parse before deploying
A syntax error in a live theme is a fatal error on every page, and the agent that caused it has just removed its own means of fixing it. Nothing replaces a PHP file until it has been linted.
Check the output, not the intention
Our CSS minifier once swallowed 98KB because an apostrophe inside an English comment opened a string that never closed. The fix was not better regex. It was counting braces before and after and refusing to ship when the number changed.
What people ask before they start
Something not covered here? Ask us directly and an engineer will answer.
Ask a questionThe Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to reach software without being handed the keys. Your systems publish a described set of actions, the agent can call those and nothing else, and every call runs through your own permission checks.
The official adapter is a plugin, still pre-1.0, and it exposes whatever abilities your site has registered. The work is describing your own capabilities as abilities with real permission callbacks, and that work is what the adapter needs in order to be useful. It is not replaced by the adapter arriving.
Only what you expose, under the permissions you set, and irreversible actions are queued for a person rather than executed. Publishing, emailing, charging and deleting are drafted and stop there. Every call is logged with the tool, the arguments and whose credentials were used. Turning that log into something somebody watches, rather than something you search after an incident, is AI monitoring and observability.
Yes. Anything with an interface can be given one: an internal API, a database, an ERP, a ticketing system. WordPress is where we have the most experience, not the limit of it.
