The rules that apply to this website and to work we do for you
Last updated: 10 September 2026
These terms cover two different things: using codetrappers.com, and engaging us to do work. Where we have signed a proposal, a statement of work or a separate agreement with you, that document governs the work and these terms fill the gaps around it.
1. Who we are
CodeTrappers is a WordPress engineering studio at SJR Koramangala, Plot 36, 1st Floor, Sony World Signal, 100 Feet Rd, Bangalore, Karnataka 560095, India. You can reach us at mail@codetrappers.com.
2. Using this website
Our services are intended for businesses and for people acting on behalf of a business, and you must be at least 18 to engage us. Please do not use the site to do anything unlawful, to attempt to gain access you have not been given, or to interfere with how it runs for anyone else. We may restrict access where that happens.
The assistant on this site answers from our own published pages. Its answers are general information, not advice on your specific situation, and nothing it says forms a contract or a quote. Please do not type confidential information into it.
3. How work is agreed
We scope work before we price it. What we will do, what it costs and what is excluded is set out in writing and agreed by both sides before work starts. Anything outside that scope is a change we quote separately rather than absorb quietly or bill for by surprise.
Estimates given in conversation, by email or through this website are indicative until they are confirmed in a written proposal.
4. Payment
Payment terms, including any advance, milestones and the currency, are set out in the proposal or statement of work for your project, or in your retainer agreement. Invoices are payable by the date stated on them. Where an invoice is overdue we may pause work on notice, and we will tell you before we do rather than simply stopping.
5. Who owns what
Work we build for you. On full payment, the custom code we write specifically for your project is yours. It is delivered into your repository and documented so that another developer can pick it up. We do not hold your site hostage with a licence key, and nothing we build stops working if you stop working with us.
Things we bring with us. We keep ownership of our own pre-existing tools, libraries and internal components, and grant you a perpetual licence to use them as part of what we deliver to you.
Open source. WordPress core, themes and plugins carry their own licences, most commonly the GPL, and those licences continue to apply. Software we publish ourselves under the GPL, including anything on WordPress.org, stays under the GPL and may be used, modified and redistributed under its terms.
This website. The content of codetrappers.com, including our logo, our writing and our images, belongs to us. Please do not republish it as your own. Quoting a passage with a link back is welcome.
6. Your responsibilities
Work moves at the speed of the slowest dependency, and that is often access or feedback rather than engineering. We will ask you for hosting and account access where the work needs it, for content and assets, and for decisions at the points where the project needs one. You are responsible for having the right to give us whatever you send, including content, images and credentials.
7. Confidentiality
We treat what you show us as confidential, including your code, your data and your commercial information, and we use it only to do the work. Where you work with us under your own brand, we stay invisible: we do not name you as a client without permission and we do not approach your clients.
8. Third-party services
Projects often depend on services neither of us controls, such as hosting, payment gateways, CRMs and APIs. Those have their own terms and their own uptime, and their failures are not something we can be responsible for, though we will help you deal with them.
9. Warranties and limits
We will carry out our work with reasonable skill and care. We will fix defects in what we built, at our cost, where they are reported within the warranty period stated in your proposal.
Beyond that, we do not warrant that a website will be uninterrupted or error free, and we cannot promise particular business outcomes such as rankings, traffic or revenue, because those depend on much more than the code.
Neither side is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim connected to a piece of work is limited to the fees you paid us for that work. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Ending an engagement
Either of us can end a project or a retainer on the notice set out in the relevant agreement. On termination you pay for work done up to that point, and we hand over what has been produced. Our Refund & Cancellation Policy covers what happens to money already paid.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, and what we store in your browser is described in our Cookie Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, and the date at the top tells you when they last changed. A change here does not alter an agreement already signed with you; that document continues on the terms it was signed under.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka have jurisdiction, unless your signed agreement with us says otherwise.
